Charging Port Repair in Atlanta

When a phone only charges at a certain angle, or needs the cable held in place, the port is usually full of pocket lint, bent, or has lost contact on its pins. We inspect the port under magnification first, because a great many of these repairs turn out to be a clean rather than a replacement.

Typical turnaround

Same day in most cases

Cleaning and cable work is usually same day. Port replacement depends on the model and whether the part is in stock.

What the repair involves.

Charging faults come from three places: debris in the port, a bent or corroded connector, or a failed charging circuit on the board. We start with the port itself, clean it properly and test charging speed with the cable you brought in. If the port has to be replaced, it is a soldered component on modern phones, so it is done on our bench rather than rushed, and we test data transfer as well as charging before handing the device back.

Included in the repair

Port inspection and professional cleaning
Charging speed and cable check
Port replacement when cleaning is not enough
Data transfer tested as well as charging

Charging Port Repair questions.

The things customers ask us most about this repair. Anything else, call or text and we will answer it.

Why does my phone only charge when the cable is at a certain angle?

That is the classic sign of compacted lint in the port or a worn connector, because the plug is not seating fully. Bring the cable you use and we will test with it after cleaning the port.

Will cleaning the port damage my phone?

No. We use proper tools and magnification rather than a pin at home, which is how most ports get scratched and bent in the first place.

What if the problem is the cable, not the phone?

We will tell you. Testing with your own cable shows quickly whether the phone or the cable is at fault, and we would rather tell you that than charge you for a repair you do not need.

Can you fix a charging port that got wet?

Often yes. Water damage leaves corrosion on the pins and the board around them, so it is a different job from a straight replacement. Bring it in as soon as you can for the best chance of a full repair.
